‘Heroes Of The Storm’ First Artwork Revealed

Heroes of the Storm has had some new artwork revealed displaying what the “heroes” in Blizzard’s newest project actually look like. It appears that characters from every successful Blizzard game have come together for a new MOBA title which has seen more name changes than Calvin Broadus (most commonly known as Snoop Dogg).

The multiplayer online battle arena seems to be the latest trend in epic titles, and something Blizzard hasn’t done before. Blizzard has done MMORPGs like World of Warcraft and Diablo III, and even run the gamut with real-time strategy heavy hitters like StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, but the MOBA is new ground for the online gaming veteran.

Heroes of the Storm might still have another name change as well, having been previously named Blizzard Dota, Blizzard All-Stars, and the ever-amusing Blizzard Entertainment Presents a Bunch of Guys Hitting Each Other. Heroes of the Storm just happens to be the name of a Finnish board game, and it remains to be seen if Blizzard considers that a reason to change the game’s title again.

The artwork for Blizzard’s latest game shows us some very popular characters who will be showing up in it. Jim Raynor from the Starcraft series is featured right up front alongside Nova. Sharing the spotlight is the Lich King from World of Warcraft accompanied by Sylvanas. Even the witch doctor and the main villain of Diablo are present.

The free-to-play MOBA from Blizzard appears to be ready to take on other titles such as Infinite Crisis, League of Legends, and Dota 2. Knowing Blizzard, however, it won’t be ready until they’ve perfected it. If Blizzard can give us yet another game to spend hours of our lives on without regret, they might just retake the throne that Diablo III allegedly lost them.

Blizzard will reveal more about the game at BlizzCon 2013 this weekend.

What do you think of the artwork for Blizzard’s MOBA Heroes of the Storm?
