Tom Cruise Defends Himself Upon Allegations That He’s Abandoned Suri

Tom Cruise hasn’t had the best year and a half personally. First the actor was shell-shocked when Katie Holmes filed for divorce seemingly out of the blue, and then Cruise had to endure reports saying that he has all since abandoned his daughter Suri following the split from Katie Holmes.

Tom Cruise has decided to fire back at Bauer Publishing after a magazine published a story claiming that Cruise has emotionally and physically abandoned his daughter Suri Cruise, since the high-profile split. Cruise hasn’t been too public about his split from Holmes or his relationship with Suri, but that’s all about to change. Now court documents that Cruise has decided to file show an in-depth look into the relationship he shares with his daughter now that she lives with mother Katie Holmes in New York.

The documents Tom Cruise has filed are to clear his name from allegations of being a horrible father. Cruise is so vehemently against these allegations which allege he has abandoned Suri that he is currently suing Bauer Publishing to the tune of $50 million.

In his court documents Cruise states:

“The assertion that I ‘abandoned’ Suri after my divorce is patently false. I have in no way cut Suri out of my life – whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise.”

It makes sense that Tom wouldn’t see his daughter as often as he once did. Cruise and Holmes shared a house in Los Angeles and now Suri is with Holmes on a full-time basis in New York. Even without being half way across the country, Cruise is still a very popular and in demand action star. In most cases his shooting schedule takes Cruise all over the world. It doesn’t seem to be an ideal situation, but according to Cruise he’s been a consistent fixture in Suri’s life despite his busy life.

“Suri and I saw each other in person in July, August, November and December 2012. But even during the times when I was working overseas and was not able to see Suri in person, we were (and continue to be) extremely close.”

The Mission: Impossible actor continues in the documents:

“We spoke on the phone nearly every day, and I regularly asked for and received updates concerning her friends and school life, which I then discussed with her during our regular phone calls. As my numerous emails with Suri’s mother during this time period demonstrate, I was a constant presence in Suri’s life during the time that defendants claim falsely that I abandoned her.”

Tom Cruise ends the papers with a statement that says it all. “She has never indicated, in words or substance that she has ever felt abandoned by me.”
