‘Kane & Lynch’ Movie Back On The Table, Gerard Butler And Vin Diesel Could Star

Remember that Kane & Lynch movie that was originally slated hit theaters way back in the year that was 2011? Apparently it’s back in the works. However, the project is undergoing some significant changes before it arrives on the big screen.

When the movie was first announced a while back, Jamie Foxx and Bruce Willis were originally attached to star. In fact, a teaser poster for the flick even made the rounds online to help drum up interest in the adaptation. Unfortunately for fans, it never came to fruition.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nu Image and Millennium Films are ready and willing to get the Kane & Lynch movie up and running once again. Since macho, testosterone-driven action movies are all the rage right now, it seems like the perfect time to drop something like this into theaters.

Word on the street suggests that Gerard Butler is in talks to star as Adam “Kane” Marcus in the flick. According to Cinema Blend, producers are extremely interested in getting Fast and Furious alum Vin Diesel to tackle the role of James Seth Lynch. Neither one has signed on the dotted line as of this writing.

The Kane & Lynch movie will reportedly follow the characters as they attempt to rescue Kane’s family from a ruthless gang of criminals. In order to save his wife and daughter, the anti-hero will travel around the world is search of a stolen fortune. Lynch, a certified madman, will tag along for the ride.

Although stunt coordinator-turned-director Simon Crane was originally tapped to direct the adaptation, he won’t apparently won’t return for the new version of the flick. According to Den of Geek, F. Gary Gray is reportedly slated to direct the movie.

If the project ends up moving forward, then it will serve as a reunion of sorts for Butler and Gray. The two previously teamed up for the 2009 thriller Law Abiding Citizen, a motion picture which also starred Jamie Foxx. Of course, it’s unclear if Butler is seriously interested in joining the flick at this time. After all, London Has Fallen is also in the works.

Developed by IO Interactive and distributed through Eidos Interactive, the first Kane & Lynch game first arrived back in 2007. Despite mixed reviews from fans and critics, the action title spawned a sequel called Dog Days in August of 2010. Both games have sold a total of two million copies combined around the world.

What do you think about the upcoming Kanye & Lynch movie? Are Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel the right guys to play the characters on the big screen?
