Justin Bieber Graffiti’s ‘Respect Privacy’ In Rio, Flips The Bird At Paps

Justin Bieber’s new-found graffiti hobby, first seen in Colombia, got another practice run in Brazil on Tuesday morning.

The 19-year-old and his crew were spotted on the streets of Rio de Janeiro as they spray-painted along a wall, a mix of pictures and one very specific message from the singer which read, “Respect Privacy.”

According to Brazil news website EGO, the “As Long As You Love Me” singer and his group were filmed by paparazzi throughout their three hour graffiti session, which took place in wee hours of the morning in São Conrado, an area in South Rio.

The outlet reports Bieber and crew arrived at the wall, which is part of the now privately owned old National hotel, around 3 am after leaving the mansion he is staying at in Joah, West Rio.

EGO also report that the Agnews Picture Agency, who bought the pictures taken by the paps, say the photographers were confronted by Bieber’s bodyguards as they took snaps of the singer.

It’s claimed one snapper had his clothes torn during the alleged conflict, while another is claiming a cobblestone was thrown at his vehicle by one of the pop star’s security team.

The website says the photogs left the scene at one point, before returning with police and continuing to take pictures despite apparently expressed annoyance by Bieber and his crew at the intrusion.

The gist of the the photographers other claim is that Justin agreed to let them film a meet with fans in exchange for not complaining about their alleged confrontation with his bodyguards. It’s alleged the singer still told the paps to “Suck my c**k.” [Some interpretations allege “d**k” was used.]

EGO state on their website that they contacted South Rio’s police unit, the UPP Rocinha, for more information about the alleged confrontation but were told it couldn’t be confirmed or denied among other reasons. The site adds Rio city officials have said graffiti is allowed in some areas but not in others, and were unable to say for sure if Bieber and co. broke the law or not.

As well as his “Respect Privacy” missive, Justin took a leaf out of his buddy Chris Brown’s playbook to paint monster faces. The singer also drew flowers, cartoon faces, a big bird, and wrote the words “Turns Up,” and “Bieberettes” as well as other images.

After his graffiti intensive, Bieber posed with female fans at the wall before returning to his rented, gated mansion in Barra da Tijuca, West Rio. But not before ‘flipping the bird’ at snappers trailing his crew.

Currently on the South American leg of his Believe world tour, evidently the singer is feeling under pressure. Reasons for this are likely many, but obviously frustration at having every waking move he makes tracked by the paparazzi and the relentless media interest in him is part of it.

In addition, on Friday (Nov. 1), Bieber was snapped coming out of Centauros, an adult club in Rio de Janeiro which has been described by the New York Post’s Page Six as a brothel.

After Justin and a friend reportedly spent more than three hours inside the venue, he left the club under a sheet while flanked by his security. The singer’s wrist tattoo was identified in photographs as well by his security team. Two women, allegedly Centauros employees were reportedly taken to the singer’s hotel room.

Ever since the story broke it’s made headlines around the world, as have Bieber’s Brazil concerts. Amid claims of a late starting and “factory-line” pre-show Meet and Greet with fans before his Sao Paulo show at Arena Anhembi on Saturday which was also delayed, the star cut the concert short just before singing his signature song “Baby” after a water bottle was thrown at him knocking a mic out of his hand.

According to a local reviewer, the audience called out for “Baby” to be performed but house lights were turned on after 30 minutes. At the following Rio de Janeiro show on Sunday, a shirtless male fan stormed the stage during the penultimate song “Boyfriend” and hugged Bieber onstage.

On what is turning out to be a red letter day for the singer, this morning he posted a strong tweet about his record label Def Jam, “Wish def jam would work harder on my project labels are shady.”

It was retweeted over 600 times and has since disappeared from the teen’s timeline and replaced with the more benign, “Beliebers should work at my record label ) good promoting fans.”

It’s likely the pop prince is referring to his “Music Mondays” series, the 10-songs-10-week drive he kicked off on October 7. Bieber’s latest single, the aptly named “Bad Day” is still performing well and is currently No. 9 on iTunes US after peaking at No. 2 and topped other charts around the world.

Def jam responded to Bieber’s tweet via their parent company Island Records’ official Twitter feed, with the somewhat withering,

So, a lot going on. No wonder he’s taken up graffiti.

Unfortunately for the singer, piqued paps in Rio have already painted over the singer’s artwork — as one fan noted on Twitter.
