Central Connecticut State University On Lockdown


Central Connecticut State University is currently on lockdown. Campus police are advising everyone on campus to seek shelter and remain indoors. Authorities said that the situation is an emergency and is not a drill.

The alerts began at around 12:00 pm EST. WFSB News reports a masked man was spotted on campus near James Hall dormitory. Witnesses said he appeared to be carrying either a gun or a knife. Authorities have not confirmed the reports.

University spokesman Mark McLaughlin said there is no evidence that the suspect is actively shooting. Witnesses have not reported any gunshots in the area.

Lieutenant J. Paul Vance, with the state police, said authorities responded to the scene after receiving a call about a suspicious person on campus.
