Kim Kardashian Says Bikini Picture Was ‘Big Middle Finger’ To Weight Critics
Kim Kardashian isn’t too happy with critics who called her fat after she gained weight during her pregnancy, so the reality television star got back the best way she knows how — with bikini pictures.
Kim posted a recent selfie that shows off quite a bit of her physique, which she’s worked very hard to trim down since giving birth to daughter North West. In an appearance on The Tonight Show, Kim revealed that she had dropped 50 pounds thank to exercise and the Atkins diet.
Kim said the attention she got for her pregnancy weight gains was difficult for her.
“It really hurt my soul,” she said. “It changed how I am in the public a little bit…There were these stories where I was, like, 200 pounds. I was gaining weight because I was pregnant and it was really hard to read all these stories and hear all these nasty things. And I think people sometimes question, they think I’m out ‘in hiding’ now.
“No, I just wanted to kinda adjust my life a little bit because why would I subject myself to so much negativity, especially now that I have a daughter? I just didn’t need that energy, I’d rather be in a happy place at home…I’ve definitely tried to live more of a private life because of that, because they were so nasty. Why even go out as much just to put yourself in that position?”
One day, while trying on bikinis, Kim Kardashian came up with what she thought was the perfect response.
“I was trying on a bathing suit and I actually just sent that to my boyfriend and I was like, “Babe, can I post this up? This is like my big middle finger to the world on everyone that called me fat.’ ”
It’s not like Kim has ever needed an excuse to post a bikini picture. The reality star has been overly active on social media, often sharing pictures of herself poolside or trying on new swimwear.
But Kim Kardashian was especially effective in her latest bikini selfie. Not only did she deliver a “middle finger” to her weight critics, but four days after posting the picture she got a marriage proposal from Kanye West.
