Ashton Kutcher Joins Lenovo As Product Engineer

Ashton Kutcher may be playing Steve Jobs in the biopicJobs but he’s working for Lenovo.

Kutcher was just hired as a new product engineer / celebrity pitchman for the company.

Kutcher said: “It’s a dual faceted role, I will be helping do some marketing with the company but also working with the R&D teams.”

Ashton may be best known for his acting abilities (he’s currently the highest paid actor on television) but he’s also made a good chunk of change from his tech investments. Kutcher is regularly regarded as one of the most tech-savvy celebrities and now he’ll be able to work with Lenovo to develop some cool products.

Kutcher said that he took the job at Lenovo because he believes that the company is trying to forge its own path with its mobile devices.

In an interview with ABC, Kutcher said: “I was looking for a company that was building mobile devices that I could work with. I was also looking for a company that was willing to take risks and wasn’t making ‘me too’ devices.”

The actor said that his main responsibility at Lenovo will be working with engineers to make consumer friendly products. Kutcher says that Lenovo already makes “really, really, really good hardware” and that he’s hoping to help the company connect more with the consumer.

David Roman, chief marketing officer at Lenovo, said: “This partnership goes beyond traditional bounds by deeply integrating him into our organization as a product engineer… Ashton will help us break new ground by challenging assumptions, bringing new perspective and contributing his technical expertise to Yoga Tablet and other devices.”

Do you think Ashton Kutcher will make a major impact at Lenovo?
