‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Trailer Will Debut With ‘The Desolation Of Smaug’

Can’t wait for the first Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer to arrive online? You might want to consider purchasing a ticket for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Instead of debuting the trailer online, Sony Pictures intends to run the first look at Marc Webb’s highly-anticipated sequel ahead of The Hobbit 2. To announce the first official look at the next Spider-Man movie, Webb tweeted a message to his followers in Elvish.

Although fans have poured over countless set photos and leaked trailers for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony Pictures has kept most of the official stuff under wraps. Since the movie is currently scheduled for release this summer, the studio is apparently ready to share the first trailer with the world.

It would appear that Sony wants to make fans pay for the first official look at the sequel. Although Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures debuted trailers for Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier online, Spider-Man fanatics will have to fork over some hard-earned cash to check things out.

If you’re not familiar with what’s supposed to happen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, then you might need to have a look at the flick’s official synopsis:

“For Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy — between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away — but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.”

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will hit theaters on December 13. If you’re interested in checking out the first trailer for Marc Webb’s sequel, then you’d better get to the theater early. You don’t want to be the only fan out there who can’t tweet about it afterwards.

Here’s Marc Webb’s very cool Elvish announcement:

Need something official from the flick to tide you over until the trailer’s reveal? Here’s the San Diego Comic-Con trailer for the sequel. It’s not much to look at, but it should keep you from anxiously chewing through your comic book collection while you wait.
