Kelly Clarkson kicks off the holiday season on Tuesday, October 29, with her new album “Wrapped In Red.” This is Kelly Clarkson’s first full length Christmas album. The American Idol star has ventured into everything from pop to rock to country. Now she will take on a variety of holiday classics to get the season going. Wrapped In Red features Clarkson’s vocals on classics such as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”, and “Silent Night”. Wrapped In Red also features originals like the title track “Wrapped In Red” and her Vevo pre-released song “Underneath The Tree” (watch the video below). You can download Wrapped In Red from iTunes.

The album release comes just after Kelly Clarkson’s Tennessee wedding with new husband Brandon Blackstock. It is a busy month for Clarkson. She will also begin filming a Christmas special. Clarkson’s special will be loosely based on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” During the special, which is titled Kelly Clarkson’s (Cautionary) Christmas Tale, Clarkson’s character will learn the true meaning of Christmas. The special airs Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. One of the show’s producers told ABC Radio:

“This will feature a full narrative with a beginning, middle and end, and the spine is her singing. We’ll have a young girl, narrating the story, sitting in an overstuffed chair in front of an amazing fire, reading the story from a book. And yes, it starts with ‘once upon a time’ and ends with ‘happily ever after.'”

In the Boston Globe’s review of Clarkson’s Wrapped In Red, they praise her for willingness to “play it straight” on the classics and feature her vocals. They eagerly applaud her original “Underneath The Tree” as “the best of the new” calling it “a bouncy, cooing number”.

For fans of both Kelly Clarkson and holiday music, Wrapped In Red is sure to please. Check out “Underneath The Tree” before purchasing your copy of the new album.
