Mother Jailed For Letting Boyfriend Burn, Beat And Suffocate Her Three-Year-Old Daughter

A mother in Florida who allowed her boyfriend to burn, beat and suffocate her three-year-old daughter was jailed for 10 years.

Crystal Aday, aged 29, who suffers from mental disabilities, allowed her daughter, Faith Jackson, to die at the hands of Issac Burt, aged 48. Burt received a 20 year sentence for the murder.

The child was beaten and burned by Burt for many months prior to her death by suffocation on November 6.

On examining Faith’s body, detectives concluded from the flesh wounds, that she was most likely beaten with a piece of hose found close to the house where the murder took place.

At the trial, photographs revealed in court showed that Faith had at least six cigarette burns on her body, as well as a lot of bruising on the lower half of her body, most likely from multiple severe beatings.

After Burt was sentenced earlier this week for manslaughter and child abuse, Assistant State Attorney Gino Feliciani said:

There’s absolutely no reason for this 3-year-old to have been tortured and abused the way she was. What could a 3-year-old do to make somebody so angry that they did what they did to her? People wouldn’t treat animals that way.

In passing this sentence, the court took into account the fact that Aday suffers from a serious learning disability. A panel of four experts all agreed that she was considered disabled, but they disagreed whether she was fit to stand trial.

Ultimately the judge said that Aday was fit to stand trial, which lead to a plea. Burt’s attorney attempted to lay the blame for Faith’s months of abuse and ultimate death on her mother.

This attempt to mislead the the court was soon negated as CCTV camera footage proved that Ms Aday was shopping at Walmart at the time her daughter was killed.

When she arrived home from shopping, she found Faith lifeless on the floor. She rushed her to the nearest hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Aday’s family have always claimed that their daughter had the mental capacity of a 12-year-old child and had never had a job in her life.
