Brooklyn Stabbing Leaves Woman, Four Children Dead, One In Custody

A stabbing in Brooklyn has left a woman and four young children dead, late Saturday night. One suspect was taken into custody although no charges have been filed.

The incident took place at a Sunset Place, Brooklyn apartment building, which turned into the bloody scene when the five victims were killed.

According to a statement from New York Fire Department’s spokesperson Jim Long, it is unclear what led to the rampage.

A press release issued by the New York police department indicates three of the five victims in the Brooklyn stabbing identified as William Zhuo, 1, Amy Zhuo, 7, and Linda Zhuo, 9, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Qiao Zhen Li, 37, and Kevin Zhuo, 5 were rushed to local hospitals by paramedics, but later passed away from their injuries.

“Officers observed a total of five persons, unconscious and unresponsive, all with stab wounds about the upper portions of their bodies,” a statement released by police early on Sunday indicates.

A “person of interest” is being held, a spokesperson tells NBC, “Nobody else is a suspect at this time.”

WCBS, the local New York affiliate, is reporting that the suspect is a barefoot man, who was taken from the Brooklyn stabbing residence in handcuffs, his feet were covered in blood. He was brought to the 66th precinct for questioning.

The Daily News quotes a source saying the man is “probably related” to the victims.

The 911 call, alerting police to the Brooklyn stabbing, came in shortly before 11 pm on Saturday night, according to Long. The call is believed to have been made by one of the victims.

May Chan, a neighbor who lives in the same building said she is heartbroken over the deaths.

“I always see (the kids) running around here,” Chan said of the Brooklyn stabbing victims. “They run around by my garage playing. They run up and down screaming. They’re little kids (…) that’s so heartbreaking. Innocent kids, my God.”
