White iPhone confirmed by Apple exec, will it be an iPhone 4 or 5?

Your shiny iPhone 4 might look a bit passe come later this spring, as the much desired and long awaited white version of the iPhone is reportedly coming, per a guy at Apple who knows about things like impending iPhone releases.
Increased interest in the yet-to-be released device came courtesy of an inquisitive iPhone fan, 16-year-old “future Engadget editor” Eric Anderson, who tweeted to Apple’s senior VP of marketing Phil Schiller yesterday. Anderson asked:

Schiller, who has nearly 32,000 followers on Twitter, couldn’t resist teasing, tweeting back:
@airickanderson Hi Eric. The white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!).
If the kid really wants to be a tech blogger, getting such a scoop must have been hella exciting- even though a white iPhone has been expected for some time. Nothing else regarding the White iPhone is known yet, and in typical Apple fashion, the tweet raises more questions than answers. Will it be a white version of the iPhone 4? Or a newer, better iPhone 5?
