‘The Story Of My Life:’ One Direction’s New Single Available To Hear

“The Story Of My Life,” One Direction’s new single, has been made available to listen to. It will feature on their next album, Midnight Memories.

Their previous single, “Best Song Ever,” was released earlier this summer ahead of their latest record, which will hit shops on November 25, and was a much more upbeat and energetic record compared to “The Story Of My Life”, which finds the pop icons in a more sombre mood.

Lyrics in the song include the melancholy, “Written in these walls are the stories that I can’t explain. I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days.”

“The Story Of My Life” then continues, “She told me in the morning she don’t feel the same about us in her bones. It seems to me that when I die, these words will be written on my stone.”

The song’s chorus then progresses to, “The story of my life, I take her home. I drive all night to keep her warm. And time is frozen, the story of, the story of, the story of my life, I give her hope. I spend her love until she’s broke inside. The story of my life, the story of, the story of.”

Throughout the day, One Direction’s Twitter account gave the band’s fans the opportunity to listen to their new single:

Ahead of “The Story Of My Life’s” release, Niall Horan discussed the single, which was written by Jamie Scott, a member of Graffiti6, with London’s Capital Radio.

Horan remarked:

He’s written a lot with us on this album too.

We were in Nottingham on tour when we were touring the U.K. back in February and March, and we just came into a room one day and he was like, ‘I’ve got this song that I’ve written and I want to play [it for] you.’

And we just fell in love with it the second we heard it. It’s up there with the best that we’ve brought out but “Story of My Life” might just take it.

“The Story Of My Life” is finally released on Monday, and Niall also mentioned that its video is “very passionate,” and matches the song.

Which song do you prefer, “The Story Of My Life” or “Best Song Ever”?
