Brett Favre: I Am Not Returning To The NFL

Brett Favre was flattered to get a call from the St. Louis Rams, but the former Green Bay Packers quarterback is not about to suit up for the NFL again.

The NFL has seen several quarterbacks go down this year and some teams are scrambling to find new play-callers. The St. Louis Rams apparently thought of Favre when Sam Bradford tore his ACL on Sunday.

Favre said that he was flattered by the offer, but added that there was no chance that he would play again in the NFL.

Favre said: “It’s flattering, but there’s no way in hell I’m going to do that.”

The former Green Bay Packers / Minnesota Vikings quarterback said that the St. Louis Rams weren’t the only team to contact him. Favre didn’t get into specifics, but he said that his agent has talked to a few teams since the start of the NFL season.

Favre said: “I don’t know who, but I think a couple teams have inquired.”

Favre said that he is still in pretty good shape and could probably still play at a professional level. Of course, he would appreciate it if the other teams tried not to hit him too hard.

Favre said: “I am in shape… It took me 20 years,” he told Rich Eisen, “but I realized my 20th year that I didn’t like getting hit.”

Brett Favre may not be itching for an NFL comeback, but there are a few QBs out there that are dying to play. Tim Tebow, for one, has been looking for a job all year. Jeff Garcia also threw his hat in the ring this week, saying that he’d be interested in playing again.
