15 years after Police Academy 7, there’s a new Police Academy movie in the works, but unlike the recent trend in Hollywood, this won’t be a remake of the original, instead it’s Police Academy 8.

Police Academy star Steve Guttenberg, last spotted running through New York’s Central Park without pants said that “We are doing a new movie and it is going to be great fun. A script is being written and so far it is really great, everyone from the original movies who is still around will return.”

Being lined up to star along Guttenberg and Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall, who if you’re not old enough to remember was “the hot blond chick” in the original Police Academy movie, and Sharon Stone, who featured in Police Academy 4. If you didn’t know the last fact, you wouldn’t be alone, most of us old enough to remember the series gave up at Police Academy 3.

“I know Kim and Sharon have been asked but they haven’t said yes yet. It would be really great to have them onboard” said Guttenberg.

Meh.
