Casey Kasem Nearing Death As Children Denied Visitation Rights

Casey Kasem’s health is worsening and he is nearing death, that according to his wife Jean Kasem.

The ailing American Top 40 host is suffering from late-stage Parkinson’s Disease and dementia. We recently reported that Kasem’s mental faculties have been severely compromised. He is unable to communicate and his short term memory is all but gone.

The 81-year-olds condition came to light after he and wife Jean were sued by a former caregiver. That employee claimed she was mistreated by the couple while working in their home. Jean Kasem did not appear in small claims court, instead asking for a continuance so she could be with her husband. In her request she told the court, “My husband is terminally ill and unable to leave home.” The lawsuit was eventually thrown out of court.

As he lays dying in bed his second wife is also fighting off Kasem’s three children over control of his health directives. She has denied visitation rights for Julie, 38, Kerri, 41, and Mike, 40. Following that decision the trio filed for conservatorship. Kerri Kasem, one of Casey’s daughters from his first marriage to Linda Myers, told L.A.’s ABC7 that her stepmother will not answer the phone and tells her and siblings Mike and Julie to go away when they knock on the door. Kerry adds, “He can’t really speak, but he knows we’re there. And last time we saw him, he could shuffle a little bit. He had a hard, very hard, time walking. He was just deteriorating due to Parkinson’s disease.”

Kasem’s children have claimed that he is not receiving proper medical attention, although an independent investigation has found that Casey Kasem is being well taken care of by doctors, nurses, and other helpers.

It is still not clear from doctors or family members how long Casey Kasem has left to live.
